MS21 explores how cognitive problems affect work for people with MS

15 July 2024

MS in the 21st Century is excited to share a new article entitled ‘Cognitive impairment and its impact on employment: A qualitative interview-based study involving healthcare professionals and people living with multiple sclerosis.’

The article presents findings from interviews with both neurologists and people living with multiple sclerosis about how cognitive problems caused by MS can affect a person’s ability to work. Cognitive problems include memory issues or difficulty processing information, often referred to as ‘brain fog’.

The research highlights three main points:

  1. How cognitive issues impact work
  2. The challenges in addressing these cognitive problems in MS care
  3. Ideas and support for managing cognitive symptoms at work

This article also suggests workplace adjustments and resources to help people living with multiple sclerosis succeed at their jobs.
